Guilford County Schools requests additional funds from county

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A new state budget that includes historic teacher raises is now creating a new budget challenge for Guilford County Schools.

The district is now asking county commissioners for an additional $5.3 million to help cover those costs.

“We understand their revenue streams have been minimized by the property tax moratorium, and they’ve also set the tax rate for the current fiscal year, so the likelihood of them generating additional revenue to support 100% of this,” Chief Financial Officer with GCS Tyler Beck said…
