Local farmers talk preventing produce contamination, after parasitic illness outbreak

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) -Doctors across Alabama are urging people to take precautions after 11 cases of a parasitic illness were confirmed in the state, including 10 in North Alabama.

Doctors said symptoms of Cyclosporiasis often appear about a week after eating contaminated produce and can include severe diarrhea, bloating and fatigue.

Anyone who thinks they may have been exposed should contact a health care provider…
