NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Metro Nashville has filed a lawsuit against the State of Tennessee, alleging the Tennessee Department of Correction has failed to transfer convicted felons from the Davidson County Jail within the timeframe required by state law, contributing to overcrowding and increasing costs for local taxpayers.
The 55-page petition, filed July 9 in Davidson County Chancery Court, asks a judge to order TDOC to take custody of inmates Metro says should already be housed in state prisons.
