Sedgwick County budget proposal offers property tax relief

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Sedgwick County unveiled the first draft of its 2027 budget on Wednesday.

As it stands, the county budget comes in at $624,195,119. Another $33,499,131 is reserved for the Fire District 1 budget.

The county draft includes a mill levy cut for property taxes. But that means more than $7.5 million in requests from departments will not be funded.
