Across the United States, people are testing positive for cyclosporiasis, a food-borne illness caused by a parasite that results in severe gastrointestinal symptoms.
Fourteen cases have been reported in Oregon across April, May and June, which isn’t much different than any other year. Symptoms of infection include intense diarrhea, bloating, nausea and cramping.
The Centers for Disease Control and Food and Drug Administration say the parasite is found in produce, but have not identified a specific food or distributor, as of July 15. If you’re worried about the illness, there is no need to completely cut fresh vegetables or earthy greens from your diet…
