A 28-year-old Jacksonville woman is being sued by the homeowners association of a 55-and-older community to leave the home she inherited after her father died.
Nearly three years into the legal dispute, Bethany Michel took advantage of her social media following to draw attention to the situation. She revealed that the HOA is trying to force her out of her home at Arbor Mil in Oakleaf, where she has lived since 2020 to take care of her terminally ill father, a disabled veteran, before he died in October 2023.
Now, the HOA is allegedly asking the community’s some 155 residents to contribute $1,000 for legal fees to enforce age limits.
