NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WAVE) – Construction on Phase 1 of the Monon South Freedom Trail in New Albany is more than 50% complete, Mayor Jeff Gahan said.
City officials say Phase 1 will connect the Ohio River Greenway and the New Albany Shoreline to the future Monon South Freedom Trail. The route is expected to travel north along 4th Street and continue past Fairview Cemetery.
Future phases are planned to extend the trail and eventually connect New Albany to Mitchell as part of the 63-mile Monon South Freedom Trail, described as the longest continuous recreational trail in Indiana…
