RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond fire investigators have confirmed the fire that destroyed the former Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Church Hill earlier this month was caused by a lightning strike.
A neighbor’s doorbell camera captured a bolt of lightning and an ear-splitting crack of thunder just before 5:55 p.m. Sunday, July 5 — and about 15 minutes later, that same camera showed visible fire at the former Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Richmond’s Church Hill neighborhood.
