A hazy sky hung over downtown Palos Heights on Thursday evening as smoke from the Canadian wildfires drifted across the Chicago area, but it did little to keep car enthusiasts from enjoying one of the city’s favorite summer traditions.
Hundreds of classic automobiles lined Harlem Avenue between 122nd and 125th streets for the annual Palos Heights Classic Car Show, drawing a steady stream of visitors eager to admire vintage vehicles, listen to live music and enjoy a summer evening in the heart of the city.
The show featured vehicles spanning nearly six decades, from elegant automobiles of the 1920s to gleaming muscle cars and iconic cruisers from the 1980s. Owners spent the evening chatting with visitors, many of whom stopped to ask about the history behind the meticulously restored cars.
