Union Rescue Mission opening early due to dangerous heat, Wichita community asked to help

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – With dangerous heat in the forecast, the Union Rescue Mission is expanding emergency shelter for men experiencing homelessness.

When temperatures climb into the mid-90s, or a heat advisory is issued, URM opens intake at 1 p.m. for overnight guests. This means that on coming Monday and Tuesday, they will open at 1 p.m.

Men can come in for cooling, chilled water and electrolytes, meals and snacks, clean clothing and showers…
