Sedgwick County approves $98K for new fire thermal imaging cameras

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – In an emergency, every second can mean the difference between life and death. Sedgwick County Fire District 1 is upgrading critical equipment after county commissioners approved the purchase of new thermal imaging cameras this week.

When smoke limits visibility, thermal imaging cameras give firefighters a clearer picture of what’s happening inside a structure. SCFD1 says several of its current cameras have reached the end of their service life.
