LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Fayette County Public Schools said its reported $17.8 million budget shortfall does not tell the full financial picture, but parents and teachers say they remain frustrated by the district’s handling of its finances.
District leaders told the school board they expect additional revenue from the 2025-26 fiscal year over the next two months, which they believe could reduce the shortfall to between $5 million and $10 million.

The district is also conducting a re-audit of its finances for the 2024-25 fiscal year while the audit for 2025-26 continues.
