Groundbreaking ceremony announced for Maceió Brazil Temple

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced when the groundbreaking ceremony for the Maceió Brazil Temple will be held.

The Maceió Brazil Temple was announced in April 2022 and is set to be built on Avenida Durval de Góes Monteiro in the Jardim Petropolis neighborhood of Maceió. It will be approximately 19,000 square feet.

The Church announced this week that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Maceió Brazil Temple will be held on October 10, 2026.

They also state that there are eleven temples currently dedicated in Brazil, and the twelfth, the Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple, will be dedicated on August 16, 2026. Six other temples, including this Temple, are under construction, and six more have been announced.

According to the Church, they have over 1.5 million members in Brazil, who meet in around 2,000 congregations. While their meetinghouses are open to the public, the Temple is open only to qualified members after it is dedicated…
