LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 62-year-old man is accused of dragging his horse by the neck behind a pickup truck and leaving the animal to die in an east Las Vegas neighborhood, an incident that led investigators to his property and the rescue of dozens of farm animals.
Guadalupe Camarillo Guarneros faces charges in connection with the death of his horse, named Pinto, whose body was found in front of a neighbor’s home near Nellis and Washington on June 30. Detectives said surveillance video showed the horse tied by the neck to a white pickup truck and forced to trail behind it in the summer heat before it collapsed and died.
Investigators said Guarneros turned himself in after the incident was reported in the news and investigators visited his property with a search warrant.
Animals removed; conditions described as ‘poor’ and ‘cluttered’
Metro police found 20 chickens, six pigs and four piglets on the property. Investigators described the living conditions as “poor” and “cluttered.” Animal Rescuer of That 70s’s Sanctuary Tayla Hart said all of the adult pigs were in deplorable condition.
