HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaii’s electricity is among the most expensive in the country. And now a proposal from Japanese energy company JERA is fueling a new debate over how to bring those costs down.
JERA wants to build a $2 billion liquefied natural gas power plant and offshore import terminal on Oahu. The company filed a letter of intent with the Public Utilities Commission last week.
