A two-alarm fire burned through a long-vacant Flatbush building on Saturday morning.
Firefighters arrived at 1952 Nostrand Avenue just after 6:40 a.m on July 18 to find the two-story wood frame house enveloped in thick smoke. The blaze had begun in the building’s basement, per the FDNY, and spread up to the first floor and over to a neighboring building.
Now clad in PermaStone, at one time the 19th century house was covered in clapboard siding, an old tax photo shows. It was decorated with strappy and incised Neo-Grec details, a style popular in the 1870s and 1880s.
