Grand Rapids became the heart of adaptive sports this July as it hosted the 69th Hartford Nationals, conducted by Move United, welcoming a record-breaking field of athletes and cementing its place in the championship’s history.
Held July 10 through 16, the nation’s premier adaptive sports championship brought together 428 competitors—the largest turnout in the event’s 69-year history—to compete in eight sports: archery, boccia, para powerlifting, paratriathlon and aquathlon, shooting, swimming, track and field, and wheelchair and para standing tennis. The event showcased the skills and determination of athletes with physical disabilities, visual impairments and intellectual disabilities while drawing widespread community support.
The championship’s success has already earned Grand Rapids another honor: the city will host the milestone 70th Hartford Nationals next summer…
