KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — After a Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputy withheld evidence tied to a fatal shooting for two years, leading to murder charges being dropped and a suspect walking free, the family of the man who was killed is demanding accountability.
The family of 21-year-old Davion Johnson, who was shot to death in July 2023, said they spent months requesting the internal report from the sheriff’s office with no response. A Freedom of Information Act request for the report made by News 8 was the first time they said they got to see the results.
