After a busy spring between spring practices and recruiting visits, things have quieted down for Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin and his staff. Currently, the NCAA recruiting calendar is in its dead period, but the discussion surrounding recruits never really ends.
Recruiting in the Class of 2027 is winding up with most players already committed, taking care of that ahead of their senior season, which is right around the corner. However, in the Classes of 2028 and 2029, recruiting visits are going to pick up, and offers are going to be extended sooner rather than later. The Hokies are always looking ahead under Franklin, and that includes them getting into the mix for a Class of 2029 signal-caller.
The Hokies have entered the mix for 2029 quarterback Bear Woods, who hails from Anderson, South Carolina. The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder is seeing his recruiting begin to pick up, and Virginia Tech and QB coach Danny O’Brien, along with Franklin, are already in the mix. Expect Woods to make his way to Blacksburg this fall for a game and take in the atmosphere.
