SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Governor Gavin Newsom is defending his return-to-office mandate for state employees as workers continue to protest nearly three weeks after the policy took effect.
The executive order requires most state employees to work in person at least four days a week. Some workers have argued and continue to note their departments and agencies were not prepared to accommodate office space and parking needs.
