(KRON) — Two Palo Alto residents, a man and woman in their 50s, were stirred in the night when a person rang their doorbell at 2 a.m. Sunday. When the man went out to investigate, police said 46-year-old Oscar Dario Banegas slipped inside and locked himself in the bathroom.
Security cameras at the home located in the 3500 block of Julie Court first caught Banegas at around 1:15 a.m. walking onto the property, the Palo Alto Police Department said. The suspect approached the front door once at that time, and again around 2 a.m. when he rang the doorbell.
“The male resident went outside to investigate and found that one of their cars had been rummaged through,” police wrote. “While the resident was outside, the suspect entered the home through the front door.”
