The City of Goleta has a new symbol of peace after the Rotary Club of Goleta dedicated the city’s first-ever Peace Pole at Girsh Park.
The pole was installed near the Pat O’Malley Fieldhouse and Rotary Room, with Councilmember Luz Reyes-Martín (District 1) joining the special dedication ceremony.
The Peace Pole is part of a worldwide Rotary International initiative, with the poles serving as reminders of a shared hope for a more peaceful world.
A message in many languages
Goleta’s Peace Pole features the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in eight languages plus Braille, making the symbol of unity accessible to a wide range of visitors. A QR code on the pole allows visitors to learn more about the global Peace Pole movement.
