It’s about to be dangerously hot, meteorologists warn.
An extreme heat warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Norman at 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. This warning applies to Alfalfa, Grant, Kay, Major, Garfield, Noble, Kingfisher, Logan, Payne, Canadian, Oklahoma, Lincoln, Cleveland, Pottawatomie, Seminole, Hughes and Pontotoc counties.
The NWS warns: “Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.”
