ST. LOUIS – The former manager of a Sam’s Steakhouse was sentenced to prison Tuesday for embezzling more than $1 million over the course of five years.
According to the Eastern District U.S. Attorney’s Office, a judge sentenced 48-year-old Matthew Braasch to 21 months in federal prison in addition to ordering him to repay the money he stole. He pled guilty to one count of wire fraud in April.
Prior FOX 2 reports state Braasch stole money between January 2020 and February 2025 while a manager at Sam’s Steakhouse in Grantwood Village. Officials say Braasch spent money on the following:
- $81,965 at Target
- $39,634 at Amazon
- $29,801 at Vineyard Vines
- $10,000 for an acquaintance’s local hotel stay
