SALEM, Va. (WDBJ) – The Mountain Valley Cluster Dog Show opens Wednesday at the Salem Civic Center, running July 22–26, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is free.
The event brings together approximately 842 dogs representing 151 breeds and varieties from across the country for five days of AKC conformation competition.
Performance events and family activities
In addition to conformation judging, the show features performance events including Fast CAT, a 100-yard timed lure coursing sprint, and Dock Diving, in which dogs compete by jumping into a pool for distance or height.
Families with young children can attend the AKC Pee Wee Special Attraction on Friday and Saturday at approximately 11:30 a.m. The program introduces children ages 5 through 9 to the sport of dogs in a non-competitive environment. Registration is free and opens one hour before the event.
