ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The state’s top elections official won’t say how or why she stripped a Senate candidate’s party affiliation from the August primary ballot and is delaying a public records request by Alaska’s News Source to find out.
“DOE will not identify the records ‘sufficient to show’ how, why, when, or where decisions or actions occurred,” a letter dated July 16 from elections director Carol Beecher reads, citing election statutes.
