KUNIA, Hawaii (Island News) — The Subway restaurant in Kunia was authorized to reopen on Tuesday after correcting refrigeration violations the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) discovered during an inspection last week.
Subway Kunia, located at 94-535 Kupuohi St. in Waipahu, received a red placard on Friday, July 17, following a routine inspection. The establishment, operated by World Subs Inc., remained closed until the DOH confirmed all critical violations have been corrected.
A DOH inspector found all four refrigeration units at the restaurant, including the walk-in refrigerator, were operating above the required temperature for foods requiring Time/Temperature Control for Safety.
At a follow-up inspection on Tuesday, July 21, DOH found that all critical violations were resolved. The Subway location was advised to continue monitoring their refrigeration temperatures…
