ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville police continue to investigate a weekend shooting in downtown that left two people dead and seven others injured, as newly released department data provides a broader look at gun violence in the city this year.
According to the Asheville Police Department, officers have investigated 54 firearm-related aggravated assaults during the first seven months of 2026. Those cases include incidents in which someone was shot or otherwise injured by gunfire.
