Cypress Hills Deli Turns Crime Scene As Cops Hunt Crescent Street Gunman

A routine stop at a Cypress Hills deli turned into a crime scene Tuesday afternoon when a gunman shot a 30-year-old man inside the store, sending him to the hospital and sparking a neighborhood manhunt.

Police say the victim was hit in the arm and abdomen and taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he is in stable condition. Witnesses and store employees told officers the shooter bolted from the scene before police arrived.

The NYPD says the shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. inside Soto Market Mini Corp on Crescent Street. Investigators are looking for a heavy-set man wearing a white shirt and blue pants, according to News 12 New York. Detectives are canvassing the area and urging businesses to check surveillance footage for any sign of the suspect.

The block has already seen gunfire this year.
