CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A judge has ruled a lawsuit against the city of Charlotte can move forward following a deadly pursuit crash that killed an innocent bystander and seriously injured a passenger. Mecklenburg County Court records show the judge signed the order Wednesday denying the city’s motion for summary judgment.
Brittany Webb died following the 2022 rush hour crash on Statesville Road. At the time, two Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were trying to pull over a man for a minor traffic violation when he drove into oncoming traffic. Webb’s family and survivors are suing the city, the two officers, and the fleeing driver.
Body camera footage released to WCNC Charlotte last summer showed the officers in question disobeyed their supervisor’s orders to stop pursuing the man leading up to the wreck. In court last week, attorneys revealed the officers have since admitted they were a cause of the crash…
