ROBERTSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Robertson County man was taken into custody this week as part of an investigation into the sale of kratom — also known as “gas station heroin” — and money laundering activities.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office said investigators executed a search warrant at the North Point gas station in the 4900 block of Highway 41N in Springfield on Tuesday, July 21.

Authorities said they found and seized numerous illegal kratom products from a vehicle belonging to 31-year-old Vamshidhar Reddy Donapati, an employee of the gas station.
According to officials, the investigation revealed the Portland man was selling kratom in the parking lot, out of the trunk of his car, “in an effort to keep the products from being visible inside the store.”

Law enforcement said Donapati was arrested for possession of kratom with intent to sell, a Class C felony under Tennessee law, but additional felony charges related to the sale and delivery of kratom, as well as money laundering, are expected to be presented to a grand jury…
