NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Rutherford County commissioners voted to move forward with eminent domain proceedings to acquire property for a proposed new jail, despite hours of public opposition and concerns over the cost of taking privately owned land.
The commission approved the condemnation resolution in a 12-9 vote after hearing from county leaders, the property owner’s attorney and residents who questioned whether the county had exhausted every other option.
