The operation ran from July 6 through July 10 under the federal 287(g) program, which allows state and local agencies to work alongside U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on immigration cases. More than 100 federal, state and county personnel took part, the board said, with logistical support from the Florida National Guard and Florida State Guard.
Agencies involved included ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Border Patrol, the Florida Highway Patrol’s Criminal Alien Apprehension Team, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. SBIE Executive Director Anthony Coker coordinated the effort.
Coker called it “proof” that Florida has built a model for how 287(g) partnerships can work, saying the operation showed what agencies can accomplish by pooling their resources.
