First West Nile Virus case confirmed in Canyon County

CANYON COUNTY, Idaho (CBS2) — According to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, officials from Canyon County Mosquito Abatement District reported the first West Nile virus case in Canyon County.

Residents are advised to use insect repellent and wear long sleeves and pants, especially between dusk and dawn.

West Nile Virus is transmitted to people, birds and other animals by the bite of an infected mosquito and can cause serious illness in people of any age, but especially in people over the age of 50 or those with other underlying medical conditions…
