SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Two years after the holy relic at the Cathedral of the Madeleine was stolen, the cathedral has received a new relic that will be enshrined during Mass on Wednesday evening.
“In July 2024, the relic of Saint Mary Magdalene was taken from the Cathedral of the Madeleine, which was a very sad moment for all of us,” Father Christopher Gray, Rector of the Cathedral of the Madeleine, explained. “But now we have a new relic to be able to bring Saint Mary Magdalene home to her church… she is very dear to us.”
The Cathedral of the Madeleine is the only cathedral in the United States dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene, and she is very significant in the story of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
