A 32-year-old Brockton resident accused in a fiery early-morning crash that killed two passengers has been arraigned on elevated manslaughter charges in Plymouth County Superior Court and is being held on $100,000 cash bail while in federal immigration custody.
Mario Hernandez, an El Salvadoran national, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two counts of manslaughter while operating under the influence of liquor, plus one count each of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and intimidation (described in some court records as misleading a witness or investigator). Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz’s office announced the Superior Court appearance following a grand jury indictment returned earlier this month.
The case stems from a November 14, 2025, collision at about 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Centre Street and Quincy Street in Brockton. According to investigators, Hernandez was driving a 2019 Infiniti Q50 carrying three other men when it struck a white box truck. Surveillance video from a nearby business captured the Infiniti traveling west on Centre Street and the truck heading north on Quincy Street. The front of the Infiniti hit the truck’s driver’s side in the middle of the intersection, flipping the truck onto its side and causing the car to burst into flames with occupants trapped inside.
