NEW RICHMOND, Ohio (WXIX) – Residents in Evanston and Kennedy Heights say repeated flooding and sewage backups have damaged their homes and that help from the Metropolitan Sewer District is not arriving fast enough compared to more affluent parts of the city.
Michelle Hall, who has lived in Evanston for more than 60 years, said sewage and mud have repeatedly filled her basement. She said the problem has not stopped.
“There’s been several times … including twice within this last month … it’s backed up again … and still yet they will not and refuse to do anything about it,” Hall said.
Mold fears, displacement concerns
Hall and her daughter said they are cleaning up the damage and are now worried about mold growth and whether Hall can remain in her home.
“It is heartbreaking … possibly my mom may have to leave her home if we cannot kill the mold,” Hall’s daughter said…
