Eight of the 10 candidates vying to replace U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson debated their positions in a public forum Wednesday in the battle to represent Florida’s 24th Congressional District.
“The Road to Congress: The Battle for Florida’s 24th District” was held at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex and moderated by NBC6 anchor Jawan Strader and Miami Herald Editorial Opinion Editor Amy Driscoll.
The following candidates participated in the forum:
- Te Mayonna Brown — Entrepreneur
- Marshall Davis — Longtime director of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center
- Oliver Gilbert — Outgoing Miami-Dade County commissioner
- Shevrin Jones — Outgoing Florida state senator
- Kendrick Meek Jr. — Attorney and grandson of the late U.S. Rep. Carrie Meek
- Jean Monestime — Former Miami-Dade County commissioner
- Rudolph Moise — Physician
- Roderick Vereen — Attorney
