Mobile, Al. (NBC 15) — For Daniel McCarthy, Wednesday’s introduction as the University of South Alabama’s new athletic director wasn’t just a career milestone. It was the realization of a dream nearly two decades in the making.
McCarthy, who has spent the past 17 years with the university, was officially introduced during a ceremony Wednesday morning at Hancock Whitney Stadium after serving as interim athletic director since June. University leaders praised his experience, leadership and deep ties to South Alabama, calling him the right person to lead Jaguar Athletics into its next chapter.
