DES MOINES, IA — Heat and storm threats are both lining up across Iowa on Monday, with dangerous humidity, worsening heat index readings and a late-day front expected to trigger severe weather.
For riders on RAGBRAI and anyone spending time outdoors, officials are urging extra caution. The weather service says it will stay hot long before it turns more comfortable later in the day.
What the heat threat looks like now
The western two-thirds of the state is expected to see heat index values from 100 to more than 105 as humidity rises, according to the National Weather Service in Des Moines.
