Police investigate after man dies days after motorcycle crash in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Asheville Police Department is investigating after a man died over a week after a motorcycle crash.

Officers said they responded to a crash with serious injuries on I-40 West near the 49-mile marker around 3:28 p.m. on July 6. The preliminary investigation indicates that 49-year-old Robert Franklin Owen III was operating a 2005 Honda motorcycle traveling west on I-40 when, for unknown reason, he left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Officials said that Owen sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mission Hospital for treatment before dying on July 17…
