GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A new café and cocktail bar with a New York-inspired atmosphere could open in Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood by late fall after receiving approval Thursday from the city’s planning commission.
The commission approved a special land use permit for The Hoxie at 1415 Plainfield Ave. NE, paving the way for owner Angela Tramper to move forward with plans for a café that would serve coffee, food and cocktails.
Tramper said she hopes The Hoxie will become Creston’s “living room.” She said the café aims to blend the feel of a neighborhood gathering place with influences from Prohibition-era speakeasies, Art Deco design and a “moody, mysterious” atmosphere…
