Ingham County Prosecutor: Two most recent youth killings ‘gang related’

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The murders of two teenagers in June are being pursued as “gang related,” Ingham County’s Prosecutor told 6 News Investigates Thursday morning.

Dewane said that the murders on June 5 in Frances Park and June 29 in St. Joseph Park “we believe that to be gang related.”

At about 3 a.m. on June 5, Lansing Police responded to a report of a shooting in Frances Park, located on Moores River Drive. Lovaya Rodriguez,19, was discovered with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to a local hospital. She died June 17, Lansing Police reported. Jovanathan Mitchell, 18, has been charged with her murder.

On June 29, Lansing Police responded to reports of shots fired in St. Joseph Park, located on the city’s westside. A 20-year-old woman was injured and Deron James, 15, was killed. No one has been charged in relation to this case…
