Following nearly five years of rotating interim township attorneys, Montclair will have a full-time, in-house township attorney after the municipal council’s approval last week of Chantal M. Borroum to the role.
Borroum will start in Montclair on Aug. 11 for a one-year term at a salary of $189,000, according to the council’s resolution approved July 14, following a closed-door discussion. Borroum is a veteran of Newark’s city law department.
“I appreciate the Mayor and the Council appointing me to the position of Township Attorney and I look forward to serving the Township of Montclair,” Borroum told Montclair Local on Thursday.
