ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Roanoke City Public Schools is gearing up for the first day of class on August 11th, while preparing for a major leadership change.
Superintendent Dr. Verletta White, who started the job during COVID, announced in June she’ll retire after the 2026–2027 school year, wrapping up a 35-year career in public education and seven years leading the Roanoke district.
