Cyclospora cases confirmed in Big Bend as statewide totals increase

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Florida Department of Health’s latest Reportable Diseases Frequency Report showed another increase in confirmed Cyclospora cases.

FDOH’s report showed for the week of July 12 through July 18 there were 60 newly confirmed cases in the state. Two of those being reported in the Big Bend. Both Leon and Wakulla counties are reporting a single case. This now brings the total cases in the Big Bend to three, with one other case being reported in Gadsden County back in June.

According to public data from FDOH, the Leon County case involved a 35-39 year old individual, while the Wakulla County case involved a 40-44 year old. Both were listed as “Acquired in FL.”…
