Children across Iberia Parish kicked off the countdown to the new school year with a little extra support from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Back-to-School Drive.
Students lined up at Iberia Middle School as early as 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, eager to receive school uniforms, supplies, fresh haircuts and pizza as they prepared to return to the classroom on Friday, August 7 for the 2026-27 school year.
Deputy Aubrey Picard, the school resource officer for Iberia Middle School, said she came up with the idea for the supply drive after seeing a need among families in the community. Picard said the response has organizers eager to host another supply drive next year.
“It was really nice, seeing the community coming together,” Picard said. “We plan on doing it next year, the year after that – but we’ll be more prepared. It was great! So many people came and it was amazing.”…
