WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — You may hear the sound of explosions on and off Thursday until early afternoon.
McConnell Air Force Base announced Thursday that its Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is conducting controlled detonations again. The 22nd Civil Engineering Squadron, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, which is assigned to the base, is responsible for detecting, disarming and safely disposing of explosive hazards.

That duty includes unexploded ordnance such as grenades and other military-grade explosives found off the base in portions of Kansas.
