Grammy-nominated R&B singer Nivea has shared a deeply personal update, revealing she was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year. In a candid interview with the Cadillac Chronicles, the artist expressed gratitude and optimism as she undergoes treatment.
“First of all, I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year,” Nivea said. “I’m so grateful to God.
I’ve been going through treatment, and everything is going great so far. I expect it to continue.”
The singer, known for hits like “Don’t Mess With My Man,” reflected on how the diagnosis has reshaped her outlook on life. “It’s so cliché to say you don’t know the time nor the hour, but it’s true.
It really helped me put a lot of things in perspective. I live in gratitude, like religiously,” she added.
Leukemia, a cancer that originates in the bone marrow where blood cells are produced, disrupts the creation of healthy blood cells. According to the National Cancer Institute, nearly 68,000 new leukemia cases are expected in 2026, accounting for about 3% of all new cancer diagnoses.
Despite the challenges of her illness, Nivea remains focused on her passions and family. A mother of four, she is actively returning to her music career and pursuing studies in audio engineering.
“I’ve always wanted to learn how to engineer and mix,” she shared. “But in general, I’m just doing all the things-loving on my children, being grateful, and taking every opportunity that comes my way.”
Nivea’s latest album, “Mirrors,” was released in 2019, and fans can look forward to seeing more from her as she continues her journey with strength and determination.
