BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark celebrated the completion of a new lighting project with a free community event, “Under the Lights,” on July 23.
The event featured live music, metal arts demonstrations, guided night tours, live screen printing, and local refreshments beneath the First Avenue Viaduct.
The lighting project, funded through private donations, included programmable LED lighting installed throughout the historic furnaces and along the viaduct, making the landmark more visible from Birmingham’s major highways.
